Children and Young Persons' Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CYP ISVA)

Our CYP ISVA offers a free and confidential specialist service providing practical help and emotional support to children and their families, who have been raped or sexually assaulted at any time in their lives.  Our CYP ISVA is a friendly face who is able to support a child and their family in understanding the Police and Court processes.  They can also help them get help and advice from other services if needed.

The Children and Young Persons’ ISVA arranged for door and personal alarms, which gave us a secure feeling. I am thankful for you being there for me and my daughter.

Click on the links below for information booklets and a series a series of legal guides for young people and parents of children who have been sexually abused.

The CYP ISVA has been really helpful from the beginning. My daughter seemed to share her feelings with her very easily. We appreciate all the help and support given to me and my daughter, especially in the court.
— Mum of CYP ISVA client.

We offer a safe space for children and young people to talk about their feelings and the CYP ISVA will explain what will happen at court and help them through the trial by being:

  • independent

  • friendly

  • calm

  • supportive

  • informative - explaining each stage in a clear and helpful way

How you can get the ISVA service:

You can ask for a referral to the service from the Police, NHS or any other agency.

Or, you can self-refer by calling the  Helpline on 0808 802 0013 or by clicking on the link below and complete the referral form. This is a safe and secure way of accessing the ISVA service.
